Overview
The court is committed to ensuring public access for every court user. If you are a person with a disability and you plan to participate in a court activity, you may request an accommodation from the Court. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to seek accommodations from the court. The Court is committed to providing persons with disabilities with reasonable and appropriate accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state law. Under the ADA and state law, a person is entitled to an accommodation if he or she has a physical or mental medical condition that limits one or more major life activity, has a record of such condition, or is regarded as having such condition. Court staff will make every effort to assist individuals requesting reasonable accommodations in accordance with Nevada Court Rules.
How to Request an Accommodation
Please use the Disability Accommodation Request Form to request an accommodation. If possible, the request should be submitted at least 14 days before the court activity, and should be presented in writing to the East Fork Justice Court. The request can be submitted in person, or by mail. If these methods are not accessible to you, you can also contact the Court by phone for assistance at 775-782-9955.
To expedite your request, please include a description of the accommodation sought along with a statement of the medical condition in your application. Please also explain how the accommodation will address the needs of the person with disabilities. Each request should also include the date and time of your next court activity and your contact information. The Court may contact you for clarification, additional information, or documentation to ensure that a reasonable and appropriate accommodation can be made. If you have not heard from the court within 5 days of your request, please follow up by contacting us at 775-782-9955.
For assistance please contact the Court by phone 775-782-9955.
Requests for accommodations should be made as far in advance as possible.
Service Animals
Service animals are permitted in the courthouse subject to federal ADA regulations and state law. The ADA defines a “service animal” as any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other disability. In certain situations, a service animal may include a miniature horse. The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to the handler’s disability. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort, emotional support, well-being, or companionship are not considered service animals under the ADA.
